After lying dormant for a number of years following completion of the supernatural thriller THE HOUSE IN THE WOODS, Abandoned House Productions was revived in 2014 to produce an intimate showcase performance of John Patrick Shanley's DANNY AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA in New York City. (starring co-owners Asta Paredes and Clay von Carlowitz.) Funds for this project were successfully raised through crowdsourcing on Indiegogo with the help of their loving friends, family and fans. Following a brief period of creative gestation, the now husband-and-wife duo are tackling all new kinds of demons and divisive subject matter together, starting with a batch of shorts. First was THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH, Asta Paredes’ new-wave PTSD psychodrama (her screenwriting & directorial debut), followed by Clay's psychological horror THE SHADOW SCARF; shortly thereafter, they co-starred in and produced McKegg Collins' romantic arthouse horror EROS POINT. These shorts and more have steadily prepared this duo for feature length fare, including the romantic thriller MONIKER (written by Clay von Carlowitz as a 1st year anniversary gift to his wife), an in-development Upstate folk horror flick and a trippy mystery-thriller in pre-production. Clay and Asta are committed to evolving as storytellers in every capacity, regularly trading roles as writers, directors and actors. Dark souls with big hearts, they aspire to produce work that sheds some light on the struggles we face everyday as flawed people in a mixed-up world.
